Revised SEC Filing...Can Delta Afford Northwest Executive Compensation?? |
|
NWA’s Executive
Compensation Program
The principal elements of NWA’s executive
compensation program are described below.
| |
• |
|
Base Salary. In 2005 and 2006,
base salaries for NWA officers were reduced on average by 23.5% as a
result of labor cost reductions associated with NWA’s
bankruptcy restructuring efforts. Five percent of the salary reductions
were temporary reductions to continue in effect during NWA’s
bankruptcy proceedings. In connection with NWA’s emergence
from bankruptcy on May 31, 2007,
NWA discontinued the five percent temporary salary reductions for all
NWA officers, including the Named Executive Officers. In addition,
Mr. Davis’ base salary was increased from $332,500
to $423,938 in connection with his promotion to Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer in June 2007. None of the other
Named Executive Officers received base salary increases during 2007. In
the future, changes in the base salaries of executive officers of NWA,
including the Named Executive Officers, will be considered annually by
the Compensation Committee and in connection with a promotion or other
change in responsibilities. Base salaries are influenced by individual
performance, experience in the position and scope of responsibilities,
results achieved, future potential, internal equity and salary levels
for similar positions at comparable companies.

Evolution of Non-Contract Delta Air Lines Retiree Benefits |
|
Thank you for your support of the DALRC Retirement Committee and our efforts to represent each of you to the best of our ability. Please review the attached copy of our special report, "The Evolution of Benefits for Delta Air Lines Non-Contract Retirees." Please print this document and evaluate each costs of healthcare paid by retirees based on the year of retirement or package received.
When you consider the healthcare benefits that Northwest Airlines retirees have today, you will recognize the differences between having terms and conditions clearly outlined in writing versus relying upon the trust in the leadership of Delta management to live up to commitments that had been made in a "handshake deal."

DALRC Letter to Richard Anderson |
|
Dear Delta Retirees,
The DALRC traveled to Washington in March to speak with our elected representatives to discuss our concerns with regard to the security of Delta non-contract retirees pensions, health care and D & S Trust. Following our visit and meetings, we have compiled documents that tell the story of the evolution of Delta retiree non-contract benefits. We will be posting and sending out that information on Monday, April 21.

DALRC Healthcare Safe from Merger |
YOUR AGE 65+ RETIREE HEALTHCARE BENEFITS ARE SAFE!
Your Benefits Are Safe- Your Healthcare Plans For Retirees, Survivors And Spouses Age 65 And Over Through The DALRC Retiree Benefit Trust Cannot Be Taken Away From You Or Changed Because Of The Merger!
The announced merger of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines will have NO EFFECT ON the DALRC Retiree Benefit Plans for current and future retirees over age 65. The DALRC Benefit Trust Board had the foresight to place all of our insurance benefit plans in a Trust that will protect those benefits for you for years to come.

Questions Concerning Delta's Funding of the New Severance Packages |
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KEEP MONEY IN THE D&S TRUST?
WILL THE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED SEVERANCE PACKAGES BE FUNDED FROM THE NON-PILOT TRUST?
Non-pilot disability and survivorship benefits are provided through a trust (D&S Trust) which is held for the exclusive benefit of participants in the Delta Family-Care Disability and Survivorship Plan (D&S Plan). In the event that the D&S Plan is terminated, the assets of the trust do not revert to Delta, but are preserved to pay benefits to participants of the D&S Plan. Accordingly, disability and survivorship benefits are relatively secure if the D&S Trust assets are maintained at levels sufficient to pay benefits the trust was intended to pay over an extended period of time.
Some important questions concerning the status of the Non-Pilot D & S Trust following the announcement this week by Delta of providing Severance Packages to Non-pilot people:

Changing Life Insurance Beneficiaries |
Re-designate your Life Insurance Beneficiaries Online
Have you designated a beneficiary for your basic life and optional life insurance coverage? Now you can go online the MetLife beneficiary administration Web site, www.metlife.com/mybenefits, and take advantage of this online functionality. A letter detailing this and other enhancements to the life insurance program will be mailed to all participants the first week of February.
If you have a question about beneficiary designations you submitted to Delta's previous carrier (Aetna), please call the MetLife customer service center toll-free at 1-866-492-6983. While these previous designations will remain in MetLife's files, they will not be viewable on the MetLife beneficiary administration Web site. So if you prefer a self-service option, take a few minutes to re-designate your beneficiaries online.

What is the Donut Hole? Or Coverage Gap?
The "donut hole" or coverage gap is the segment where you are responsible for paying the full cost of your medicines.
Please keep in mind that the Opal Enriched plan although lower in monthly premium has no coverage in the gap or Donut Hole. The Emerald plan has only co pays through the gap.
For 2008 you enter the gap once your drug spend or cost of the drug (this includes your copay cost and what it cost CCRx) add up to $2,510.
You are then 100% responsible for ALL of your drug cost above what you have paid to date out of your own pocket in copays NOT including any money paid by CCRx until you reach $4,050. This means your exposure in the coverage gap can be as much as almost $4,000! Everyone has a different coverage gap cost depending on how much money you paid out of pocket prior to reaching the Coverage Gap.
Your Exposure to the Coverage Gap or Donut Hole May be Larger Than You Think!
